Spotlight of a super fan: Roy Royster
As we gear up for Opening Day at the ballpark the HoppersFan blog will be showcasing SuperFans, front office staff, past players, and other members of the community that have an interest in the Hoppers. The order of the people selected are completely random, and are purely for entertainment purposes. If you would like to be included in this segment leading to opening day please contact me via the HoppersFan page on facebook.
Roy Royster is our first SuperFan to be highlighted in the HopperFan blog. You simply can not step foot inside the ballpark without running into Roy. You can usually find him either at the tunnel hustling autographs or down section 101 at the bullpen talking to the pitchers. He has coined the “uh-huh” phrase made popular by the “UH-HUH GUY” Paul Buchanan. Roy has even designed shirts for the upcoming season, to carry this craze. He currently works at UPS and has been a season ticket holder since 2008. I had a chance to chat with him recently and ask him a couple questions and this is what he had to say.
HopperFan: What has been your favorite giveaway?
Royster: I really like the free t-shirts
HopperFan: Do you have a favorite Grasshopper player?
Royster: Danny Pertusati
HopperFan: Favorite food in the ballpark?
Royster: Footlong Dodger hotdog and the all you can drink 10 dollar soda
HopperFan: Whats your greatest memory of the hoppers?
Royster: Seeing the Hoppers win Championships and hanging out with friends.
HopperFan: Is there anything else you would like to say to the fans of the HopperFan Blog?
Royster: UH-HUH!!!
Be looking out for our next installment where we will showcase LEE CLARK. Lee is a regular on Thursday and Monday Nights. He is another SuperFan at the ballpark. He has been coming for the last 3 years and is a great guy. It has truly been a privilege getting to know him over the last couple seasons. Till next time… Woot Woo! IT’S A GREAT TIME TO BE A HOPPER!
